Teeth Whitening

The unfortunate fact about teeth is that they tend to yellow or discolor with age, and some of our favorite vices – coffee, red wine, tobacco – only speed up the process. If you are a Fort Wayne resident looking for a simple, effective way to give your smile a makeover without any invasive or costly procedures, Dupont Family Dentistry has a solution for you. Teeth whitening can take years off of your appearance, giving you a well-deserved boost of confidence and pride in your smile.

How does Teeth Whitening work?

At Dupont Family Dentistry, Dr. Diehl, Dr. Feasel, and Dr. Ghori use an at-home whitening system. This means that you will first be fitted for a custom mouth guard or tray that contains the bleaching agents. The trays are lightweight and can be worn comfortably while awake or asleep – your choice. The trays are very thin; you will still be able to speak normally with them in. Treatment times and durations vary patient to patient, depending on the current state of your teeth, and desired results.

How long do Teeth Whitening results last?

Teeth whitening can last up to five years; however, your results depend entirely on your oral care and lifestyle habits. As you can imagine, avoiding staining agents such as tobacco, red wine, and coffee will help preserve your beautiful pearly whites.

Am I a good candidate for Teeth Whitening?

While teeth whitening is a safe and healthy solution for stained, discolored, or yellow teeth, and most patients experience zero to minimal discomfort and sensitivity, it is not for everyone. If you have periodontal disease, or gum disease, very sensitive teeth, or eroded enamel, Dr. Diehl, Dr. Feasel, and Dr. Ghori may discourage teeth whitening. If you are pregnant, we recommend waiting to whiten your teeth until after your pregnancy.
